Re: Audio Interface for Notebook Users

Thanks for the tip, Stefan. Your info led me to this website:

http://digitalaudioworks.com/index.asp?PageAction=VIEWCATS&Category=129

It shows the Indigo PCMCIA cards, but the RME card too.

I think PCMCIA route is the best for me...I'd rather not have an extra
device attached to my notebook.

Hence, what I have now for PCMCIA options are:

1. SoundBlaster Audigy 2 ZS Notebook -
http://www.creative.com/products/product.asp?category=1&subcategory=204&product=10769

- $100
2. Echo IO http://www.echoaudio.com/Products/CardBus/IndigoIO/index.php -
$200
3. Echo DJ - http://www.echoaudio.com/Products/CardBus/IndigoDJ/index.php
-
$200
4. RME Hammerfall HDSP Laptop Cardbus -
http://www.rme-audio.com/english/hdsp/cardpci.htm#CARDBUS - $299

I definitely won't be buying the Soundblaster again....even though the
quality is great for what I'm using it now, I don't like the fact that it
completely disables your notebooks current soundcard.

With this new ThinkPad T60p I just bought, it has Intel's High Definition
Audio built into the chipset. I am really curious how or if I'll be able
to
take advantage of this with one of the above options. Even more
interesting
is if the soundcard on the T60p itself takes advantae of it...I'll find
out
when I plug in.
