I've got some support gigs coming up at a local venue (if my health allows
it) which has a video DJ & multiple cameras running on a G5 console. I'm
planning to give him a VGA out from the laptop, so that the audience can
at least see the concept of what I'm doing on stage.

I'd say go for it!
