Ask your insurance agent about special "riders" to cover gear not covered 
by your normal homeowners, renters, or business insurance.  If your 
vintage 
instruments are considered "collectible" you might want to get a quote 
from 
collectinsure.com though they might not insure insure gigging, working 
tools.  Let us know where you find the best deal.  You're not alone in 
that 
under-insured boat.

FWIW, Fripp once said the reason he didn't tour with his vintage axe was 
that the insurance expense made it cheaper to buy new, custom-made guitars 
for touring so long as he promised to leave the vintage ones safe at home.
