Sjaak's response to this is exactly correct.  The LP1 will respond to 
program change messages or CC messages.  If you use CC messages, then it 
needs to send a large value on the press and a small value on the release. 
It will not respond to the note on and off messages.

I know one person that uses an FCB1010 for both.  They have certain banks 
established to control the EDP and other banks to control the LP1.
