Audio quality issues :(

hey all,

I don't know when this started, but when I send audio directly from
ableton live through my firebox to my speakers, it sounds considerably
better than when i send it comp>kaoss pad kp3> comp > speakers.
Especially noticeable is the loss of most of the bass.

Could this signal damaged hardware? I just replaced the cables to no
effect. Or is this a known issue of the kp3's output? If so, any way
to compensate?
