All of my effects run pre-looper, though I can appreciate
all the reasons why one might put effects post loops, particularly if the
looper had aux outputs like the Lp-1 does so that you could run a loop or group
of loops to an effects unit, for specialized processing. I might do that
someday if I ever break down and buy a POG or something like it. I find it
easier to manage my loops if I print the effect to the loop rather than post
loop process. One reason I like putting my reverb before the looper is I
like what happens to big reverb sounds when putting loops in reverse, the
reverb will naturally achieve a gated reverse reverb sound as will other
effects like delay. Also, since I like to vary the amount and depth of
the reverb I find putting it post looper less manageable, as what might
be appropriate for one loop reverb-wise, may not be appropriate for all of my
loops, making things too muddy. I have a dedicated expression pedal controlling
the depth of reverb which isn’t possible with most pedal reverb units. Well
I guess with a volume pedal and some king of signal splitter you could .I
really appreciate this level of control over reverb depth as it allows me to
have continually varying amounts of reverb. I could for example, bloom the reverb
just on the decay of melodic notes , or rapidly deploy reverb burst to create gated
reverb effects while playing percussively. Bill |
