Hm.. well yes, maybe it was a Dr Rhythm. Definitely pre MIDI 'cause I
have recordings with it that I cut in 1981. I liked it's crappy sound,
especially if run also through a tape delay that was "tweaked" during
audio capture. Didn't like Dolby's music and thought the Linn sounded
"too fat and punchy" - until I heard it in a Michael Jackson tune were
it suddenly sounded great (in that production - Thriller period I
guess...)

A guy we shared rehearsal area with kept an 808 there. We used to run
it through a Roland tape delay to make its "boring sound" (ten years
later we all changed opinion on THAT and today I love the 808) a
little more interesting.
