You may assign a MIDI Note to the Monitor switch. Now here's a cool trick:

IF you like to switch between three synths while playing. Assign the
same MIDI Note to all three Instrument Track's Monitor Off button!
Then go out of MIDI Assignment Mode and put the first track in the
"In" position, the second track in the "Auto" position and the third
track in the "Off" position. Voila! Now that precious MIDI Note of
yours (foot pedal?) has become a three way Synth Toggle!.

In order to switch between only two tracks - by the same MIDI Note -
assign the note to the track's mute buttons (instead of Monitor
buttons)! The manually put on in Mute mode to kick it off.
