My Sharp MDM15 still does a good job!
I had a Zoom H4 and recorded a number of 'live' jams with it. I just placed it on a tripod in the middle of my PA spkrs & guitar amp. It faithfully recorded the performance. I since sold it and replaced it with a newer Zoom H4N which I just received yesterday. The advantage the Zoom has over most if not all of the other portables is that it can function as a 4 track MTR. Plus it has a lot of other capabilities (e.g. acting as an audio PC interface). I wouldn't be surprised if the H2 performed admirably as well.
I was considering the Sony PCMM10 which is selling for $229 (was $289) presently and which had a rebate for a free case, if I remember correctly. But, I opted for the extra features of the Zoom.
Regards, Paul
