I've always improvised, but since the beginnings of a set is the most 
fraught with danger, I have a few opening themes to get started, if 
I've no decent sound-check and still somewhat stressed. Most times, I 
just go for it, but it's handy to have a few ideas you can turn to 
when mental blockage strikes ;)
