Yes, that's right when talking about a stereo mix where you don't have access to the different components. What I implied is that I prefer to make necessary adaptions as close to the sound source as possible, rather than using a multi band compressor. That way you can get an even punchier loud sound (because sound sources with extra muscles do not bog down the band width for other more subtle sound components). Another issue for live performance issue is latency and since I work on a laptop based system I rule out all software that cause extra latency, which includes most multiband compressors I know about. One might argue that "a host application applies latency compensation" but this is only true as long as you work with already recorded sounds and the host application is not the sync slave to something else (a looper device or a buddy) Greetings from Sweden Per Boysen www.perboysen.com http://www.youtube.com/perboysen On Mon, Oct 15, 2012 at 1:20 PM, Tristan Zand <zzz@zzz.ch> wrote: > Wooo! > We definitely find it useful for high volume 'dancing' environments where > you need to pump a bit the room volume! > But I'd definitely agree for lower volume ones.. > ;) > Z > http://zzz.ch > http://loopr.net > > On 15 oct. 2012, at 13:01, Per Boysen wrote: > > if that would be needed I regard it a > performance mistake in the first place) > >
