Agree. Here's a walk-through:

1. Get down on knees.
2. Dial in the GR's preferences.
3. Find out if there is a Yes button for "USB MIDI IN".
4. Push That Button!

Oh, and tell your lappy to send out some MIDI Clock. That should be
the very first step.
