well yes and no

Yes for the obvious reason.

No because this would mean an extra test (if then) on every midi 
command sent. So overall everything would be a little slower.

Don't know if you caught that mail on the LG list , but Xavier
has said that the program memory of the LG is
now 95% full, and he doesn't want to add more features.

(However, while he hasn't actually said 'this doesn't apply to the Control 
Center'
 there's of course no memory limit on that)

He also said he won't make different versions of the firmware.
Which would be theoretically useful, as a lot of the functionality
is targeted for specific devices like the Axe FX.
