Re: live looping video

Hi Seth,

Yes. HIs focus was the drumming, and the painting sort of happened as an extra bonus. The sound out to the venue was impressing from a dual contact mikes equipped painting canvas. If he, for example, painted a line from the left to the right you heard a sound like a jet passing through the room. And strikes at different parts of the canvas had different depth and timbre. He also wore googles with wifi cameras sending to a projected big screen, so the audience could have a closer look on whatever he was facing (mostly that canvas mangling). In fact we all had wifi cams on our instrument to let a friend mix the live video by choosing between the four feeds.

Thanks very much!  It takes much longer in the live situation, but people seem to be enjoying it on my tour through Germany right now...  so, Per, was the drummer actually playing the canvas rhythmically?  Sounds like a very cool concept.  I’ve seen some crazy good live painters when doing a search on YouTube.  It’s been a nice thing to try though I do not know how much longer I will do it.  I prefer composing, I think!

All the best,
Seth

I like that music, Seth! Nice video presentation. A while back I played with a drummer that painted a canvas with two contact mikes, placed for a stereo scape in the PA system. When a canvas was fully painted he quickly moved the mikes onto a new to start the next painting (by playing).
