John Rich
Age:24
Location:Northeast Georgia
Email Address(es):neoprog14@yahoo.com
Projects/Ensembles:In 1999, a friend and I recorded what I call 'The Bizarro Project.' It was a looping experiment using an old Lexicon Vortex machine, which I'd like get my hands on one. Currently, I'm working on a soundscapes album and trying to find some more creative musicians to play with.
Instruments:Guitar, Guitar Synthesizer

I usually play an Epiphone SG, which this guitar plays really well, and I also play Fender Stratocasters, an Ibanez (SA160), and lately I've been playing an old Japanese guitar called an Elektra which they haven't made since the 70s.
Looping Gear:Looping - Line 6 DL4 Delay Modeler, Boss DD-6 Digital Delay, Boss RC-20XL Loop Station

Other effects/gear - Lexicon MPX-110 (which I use mainly for reverb and it has some cool pitch shifting, chorus, and delay effects that I'll sometimes use), Roland GR-1 Guitar Synthesizer, ProCo Rat distortion pedal, Line 6 Pod Version 2.0 with foot controller, DeArmond volume pedal, Dunlop Jazz 3 picks, Boss Chromatic Tuner, Furman power conditioner, Sabine tuner (rackmount)

Amplifiers - Fender Princeton Chorus, Randall RG-80
Influences:Bill Frisell, Robert Fripp, Terje Rypdal, John Abercrombie, David Torn, Ben Monder, Pat Metheny, Buckethead, Ralph Towner, Steve Tibbetts, Adrian Belew, Eberhard Weber, Jan Garbarek, Paul McCandless, Marc Johnson, Shawn Lane, Michael Hedges, David Gilmour, Allan Holdsworth, Bartok, Mozart, Herbie Hancock, Mark Isham, Joe Henderson, Andy Summers, Dave Holland, Jack DeJohnette, Will Ackerman, McCoy Tyner....there are so many
Musical Style:Jazz, ambient/new age, progressive rock, classical, experimental
Recordings Available:None yet.........maybe one day
My style of playing has come along way. I've had alot of time to find my unique voice on my instrument and I think I've finally found it. Looping is a HUGE part of my playing. I like to go from chaotic, dissonant pieces of music to real ethereal, beautiful, melodic pieces. I'm trying to find a balance between dark and light and everything in between. I hope to learn from everyone on this site. Thanks for taking the time to read this and if you have any questions reguarding anything please feel free to contact me.
