Subject: hi guys--please help
I'm using a Boss RC-20, trying to loop full songs
by either creating a chord progression for a whole song, then overdubbing, or
stringing together verse and chorus phrases. My music is like Joseph
Arthur's--singer-songwriter, guitar-based with electronic influences--and I'm
heavily into overdubbing voice and guitar.
Anyway, the RC-20's not working for me because
syncing phrases on-the-fly is virtually impossible, from what I can tell, even
with my Boss FS-5U footpedal. (My rhythms are too complex for
that dumb 4/4 quantize.) Also, I want to do whole sets of 3-5 minute
songs, and the RC-20 can't handle that much information. I want to be
able to cut-and-paste phrases, too.
I've read all the specs on looper's delight and
searched the archive, and I still can't figure out how to do what Joseph
Arthur is doing with the JamMan--he does whole songs on-the-fly with tons of
overdubs.
So:
1. Does anyone use the RC-20 for gigging, and if
so, how do you make use of it?
2. Should I buy another looper? I
need a lot of memory, etc.--is EDP my only real option?
3. What about using a Zoom MRS-802CD or
other digital recorder with a looping function? Does anyone use one of
these onstage?
Any comments would be most welcome.
