basic loop equipment

I am a BEGINNER guitar player. Wanted to play 12 bar blues and then hear
that while I learn to play solos.  I was thinking about cassette 4 track
recorder...but then saw stuff about guitar effect pedals with loops.

What's the best way to do what I want to do? I just want a practice
tool---not a mega-recording station or something like that.  Thanks!
