Ditto. LOVE Can's grooves and that wiry guitar . . . There was Soft
Machine (more jazzy, yet still with a very rock esthetic).

Nels Cline's personal work and ensembles are chock full of cutting
edge improv.  He has a sorta lo-fi blended with high-tech vibe that's
truly unique.  I'm particularly liking his recent release "Coward".

Like Rypdal, Nels has a huge catalog and one has to work through it to
understand the enormous scope of his work. Through it all, Nels sounds
unique . . . a true original.
