also add in the time taken by AD/DA conversion, which I heard
gets larger as quality improves, at least 20 samples for both ways.
..and there seems to be a "Firewire Buffer" (adjustable in
an interface that I tried), 4mS or so.

I wonder if anyone measured the latency for digital hardware, much
of which doesn't have an analog dry signal.
