Re: Why...?

Thank you, Per.  I was going to prepare some sarcastic comment like, "I had no idea my motivating reason for looping was chicks.  I always assumed I liked men.  This realization will save me thousands on future psychiatry bills!" No offense is taken, at least, by me.  I know that they were speaking from their point of view and weren't meaning to be exclusionary.

Now that I've opened my big mouth...

I loop for two reasons, wait no three.  The first falls under the, "I don't need no stinkin' band" category.  Looping presented itself as a solution to a problem I thought I had: no bandmates!  Ironically, by being content as a one girl band, I've found other solitary bands that want to work together.  How beautiful is that?

The second is that I developed a fascination with the gear.  The experience of experimenting, with no right or wrong answers, with instant results, has been super stimulting and rewarding.

Last but not least, looping was love at first sight.  I was totally delighted at the possibilites it presented.  Loops have always been a theme in my life: whether it was loops of yarn when I used to teach knitting, spinning in circles doing hammer throw in college, or with sound.  It's essential.

That's where being a songwriter is an advantage.  I look down when I'm looping, but when I am singing I am out there making contact.
