I wouldn't even say it's to cover bad musicianship. I think the amount of polish that goes into modern rock and roll is so ubiquitous that listeners expect bands to play songs with inhuman precision, and no variation. Anything less than that is considered a "bad take"! Personally I enjoy hearing the occasional subtle screwups. > andy butler <akbutler@tiscali.co.uk> was like: >> >> >> >> ...but rock bands looping their recordings secretly in the >> studio...that's >> really dull > >and mark francombe <mark@markfrancombe.com> was all: > > Of course, because its often used to hide bad-musicianship (theres the > pot > calling the kettle black) but theres till alot of looping in a band > context > that kinda works BECAUSE the loopy-ness of the track is important, Tell > me > that Ministry didnt loop all their rock stuff. > -- Matt Davignon mattdavignon@gmail.com www.ribosomemusic.com Podcast! http://ribosomematt.podomatic.com
