What this (or the Facebook group) pushed me to do and which ended up making me much happier with the Boomerang III was to tune almost every element in my signal path for unity gain and then just account for being at instrument level rather than line level (I think those are the right terms) when I hit my mixer. I don't know what the right answer would be for setting the gain on a boost pedal using the above advice if the goal of the boost really was to make things louder. I guess it would just be "set it to the amount of extra gain you want" but then you need to watch out downstream for devices that don't like hot signals (e.g., the Boomerang). Mark
