Re: Echoloop Master Ableton Slave

hi Phil,
didn't Matt respond to this? thought I saw it somewhere.

it's a bug (i think)

The latest version of Echoloop doesn't seem to be putting out midi-clock
at all.
So, it won't work.
(no idea why not, it did in previous versions)

Apart from that, routing midi in Ableton is a nightmare.
I presume Mobius is sending clock direct to a virtual midi Device.
Echoloop won't do that, because we think the host should handle that sort
of stuff.

Will Ableton let a plugin send midi out? don't think it does,
but I'm not an Ableton guy.

So, assuming Matt gets the midi-clocks going then it might be necesary
to use something like Plogue Bidule as a VST plugin, with Echoloop
within it.
(in that case, the tools in Bidule could make a stream
of midi-clock synced to the loop...but hopefully there's a bugfix)

Any Echoloop users out there ever succeed to get it to drive Ableton
Live’s tempo?

Live’s native looper does this quite nicely.

Mobius does this with use of the IAC bus to route MIDI.

I’ve tried everything I possibly can with Echoloop -

I am wondering if the feature just does not work (bug) in which case -
fine at least I know and can stop trying !

But if anyone else has actually made it work - do let me know :)

Right, got it.

If you're using Quant what you're getting *is* the expected behaviour.

If the Sub is still waiting to start the Note-Off is ignored,
unless your doing it via InsertMode.

Unfortunately it's something that didn't get fixed in Loop4.

now read on

I have triple checked The note off. weirdly if i set the pedal to do a
regular insert, and set the insert mode to sub, ( + 8ths + quantise
on) it works as expected, the typical 8 note sequencer sound. But
setting it to direct midi, substitute, doesnt work! This is annoying,
as I dont want to have to change presets for this effect, as i tend to
use presets simply as different 8th note settings...

BUT! I have another problem, cant believe its related tho.
After power up, ONE of my edps has feedback set to 0, and plays a loop
only once, I have tried to save a preset with feedback set to 127, and
I can change presets and back again and keep this setting. Plus all
other settings in that preset are retained. BUT after a restart, it
always reverts to feedback =0!! I thought it may be a battery, but as
I say all other settings seem to be ok!

Don't think fbk is saved in the preset.

As the 2 edps are linked via brother, it might be that one is
affecting the other... but I don't know.
I also can't say when this started happening, and if it's the same
time as my other problem.

Well, now we know it's not related to the other problem.

First, the workaround is RecordMode=SAF.
Apart from that, I don't know.

Have you tried different Loop/Delay Modes?

Could it be something sent by the Gordius on it's boot up?

Do you have anything plugged into the expression pedal socket?
Or maybe that's faulty itself. Don't know if the socket has switches,
or if they'd produce this result on fail, but those do
get oxidised and stop making contact sometimes.

If it was the other edp doing this then normally it would also have fbk=0

Don't remember coming across this before, needs a bit of fault finding.

Just been programming a few things into my Gordius, and suddenly
realised that my Sus Substitute pedal wasn't working properly...

Im sure it should be correctly programmed Ive tried both

A# 10 SubstituteButton Virtually presses the “Substitute Button”
A# 22 SUSSubstitute Sustain Action Substitute

Im sure theres something weird in the preset, but dont know what.

This is whats happening. I can make a loop as normal with REC and
OVERDUB and MULTIPLY no problem (mention that cos it might have been due
to 0 feedback setting)

But now I hit this Sus Sub pedal and sound stops dead, and I get
exactly 1 repeat. Exactly like Ive gone into Overdub, but with Feedback
reduced to 0...

    What is THIS???
