I agree. FWIW, RME have made details of totalmix ( including source code ) available to anyone who has C++ chops in the past. There was an external which ran totalmix from MaxMSP in OS9, but it has disappeared in OSX. These days, I think you would have more luck trying to reverse engineer the HUI protocol. There are some things floating around, but the Mackie protocol, as you say, is not all that great a shake in any case. These guys have pretty cool gear http://www.soundsculpture.com/products/default.htm Pricey, but they certainly have a niche, and it's not quite as pricey as programming it yourself on Eventide gear. :) -A
