Dears, Just consider one thing about mackie protocol: assume you want to move fader n. 9 ? you have to switch a "channel bank up" button and so the faders go to channels 9 to 16. There you are in one row of faders, let's think they are the input faders. Want to move to output ones ? Switch "down" somewhere and you go down... Ice on the cake ? You know how they discern from the channel fader ? with midi channels ! smart, no ? Wouldn't it be more simple if any channel could have their own note or controller or whatever or maybe, seing that we are in 2006, a simple midi learn ? the mighty mackie protocol: http://members.aol.com/mhigrules/MCMap.htm crazy. About Switchblade: It is an awesome piece of gear, but why we should collect latency and ad/da convertions when we can have one ad, make all the processing routing via digital (using spdif/optical/aes-ebu/fw) and have the last da at the end ? (assuming we're not using pedals in the routing). . best, luca
